Ok well im going to make a solid billet aluminum insert for the TTR upper engine mount that fits the 2.2 and 2200.
Would anyone be interested?
Im going to design it up tonight and send it out for quote, so I should have prices by the end of the week!
Confused, are you talking about an insert for the "full replacement mount" or the "insert" similar to the RK Sport one, but in aluminum?
The 2.2L eco does not use an "insert" like the 2200 and 2.4L did, that is why we ask...

Aaron I think he's talking about the 2.2 OHV motor.
Phil: You need to watch what you do because your messing with a trademarked item here. I hope you talked to Aaron about selling a modification to his part. Although by his response it's quite obvious that you didn't.

i really dont see what he is planning on doing as illegal or crossing lines. its just a replacement insert, if there is an issue all he has to do is word it different. also if under your circumstances this is illegal then ttr must have contacted gm when they made their tranny mount inserts or anything else replacing anything they have marked in our cars? wouldnt that be crossing gm?
I mean, I bought the TTR full upper replacement mount for the 2200, and I want to replace the circular polyurethane mount with a solid aluminum one.
I dont think that would that create a problem, would it?
I just got a quote for machining the two halves to make the solid bushing and it would be around $90 plus shipping, but it would go down with a mass quantity order.
thanks

I don't remember GM using polyurethane bushings....I must have missed something there. There's a difference between upgrading a part, like TTR did by going to urethane bushings over the factory rubber ones, and taking a part already made and changing it minimally to sell as your own part.
That would be like me taking AEM intakes, changing the filter, and calling them TVR intakes.
I was just giving him a heads-up that maybe he should talk to Aaron about this, not trying to imply that it was illegal. It's just unethical in some ways.

There is another company coming out with some solid upper mounts soon. But I hope you do realize the amount of vibrations that are going to come from your motor is going to be very very prevalent. I have the LZM completely solid lower mount, but I plan on running these on a car which isn't driven daily... I have people bitching about the poly mounts in my sunfire when they are in it. Why is your dash vibrating and making that noise?
My car isnt a daily driver, and Im actually trying to make to biggest baddest LN2 2200 there ever was. It has been being built for about 3 years now, and Im hoping to have it done in spring. I already made a completly solid tranny mount and the vibes are the least of my worries. I have the upper TTR and the lower TTR. Im not really doing it for a purpose, I just like designing new things, so its kinda, like im bored and want to make something new. The whole car is solid, and the suspension is super stiff with sways, control arm bushings, front homemade k-member, rear tie bar, paired with shocks and struts. The only thing in this car that is going to be stock by spring is the bore and block. im hoping 400+ hp and if not, I will do it again!!!!!

that analogy is totally wrong. i think you have the wrong idea. Hes not selling a TTR mount w/ a new bushing. hes just selling a solid bushing that will fit the TTR mount.
