Engine Mounts

I'm in the market for better motor mounts.

I've seen RKSports and TTR offerings. I read the TTR and RKSports threads and there wasn't a clear answer.

I'm looking for something to make the car more fun while not jarring my bones loose.

My buddy has a 92 DSM AWD with full Prothane mounts and it's not bad. Hell, I'd allow even more vibes than what it gives.

Right now, I have the Auto Trans mount from TTR in the car on there along with the RKSports lower mount. On RKSports' website, I have the RKSports upper in the cart.

What do you guys think? I don't think the full solid from LZM is a good option for my DD. Would a full TTR setup be better? Full TTR would be $90 more than TTR Trans, RKSports upper and lower. I just want bang for my $$$. Thanks in advance guys. Sorry for any incoherence.

this thread is just down a bit from here. please, that button right beside the "new thread" button helps out a lot. this place is overloaded with opinions and AMAZING info. and due to this, it can also be full of people who are up tight about all the questioning before reading.

don't consider this as me flaming you, more, handing you a flame suit so you don't get ripped a new one by someone who is actually mean, lol.

I understand this. Thanks for looking out.

However, I didn't see a clear message/standpoint in the thread. Too many people comparing the inserts to the full mounts.

Full mount to full mount, how does the TTR and RKSports stand up?

At this point, I'm going to order the full RKSports getup from RKSports and TTR's Auto mount from TTR.

then it would also help you if you put the engine and year of your car down.

also, I've noticed one main difference between cavs and fires, fires don't rattle nearly as much as cavs do.

Brad i don't know about the cav vs fire thing but i doo know that if you doo only engine mounts and not tranny mounts it will vibrate like a mofo your best to do all 4if you stiffen the engine and not the trans the trans will move and give off some unwanted vibes
my 97 2.4 had only engine ones and vibrated like a b*tch

now my 99 3800 is all urethane and i get way less vibs then my 2.4, not sure if thats a fare comparision tho since shawn and i spent 2 hours getting the 3800 to sit perfect so that will also help reduse vibs.

i went with the Prothane trans mount insted of TTR cause in the picture the TTR is solid and prothane has holes drilled to give a little flex but not too muchno idea if the TTR have holes but the pic doesn't have them but it could be a common pic used

one time when I lost a mount all i did was pick up a tube of urethane ( much like a tube of caulking) from a local hard where shop, removed the mount from the car and spread the urethane, smoothed it off and waited for it to get hard. I had No intentions of leaving my car like this but i learned that this is a very good way to make those mounts much more solid and you can do all of them for less then $12. So for anyone on a tight budget this may be just for you.
