SAFC 2 Know-How
Tuesday, September 15, 2009 7:19 PM
I recently obtained a 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST that has a SAFC 2 and Aeromotive FPR installed. The car runs pretty good but I really have no sense for how to use the SAFC. I've read the instructions and I've even tuned my Z24 with HP Tuners but this thing just seems really confusing. I know the Eclipse has larger-than-stock injectors (unsure of what size), it does not have a Wideband installed (but I can get the one from my Z swapped in) but I'm at a loss for how to make this thing efficient let alone powerful.

So here are my questions:
Is it even possible to tune with the SAFC without a Wideband and would it wire into the unit or do I need a separate gauge for it?
Are there any write-ups for using the SAFC that maybe I missed on my searchings?
Would you think it would be worth the $100-150/Hr. rate some shops around here are charging to tune my car?
Is anyone in the Akron area willing to come give me some pointers and/or tune this thing for me?
If so, what would it be worth to you?

Thanks

If that's Rick of Big3 I actually already found them through DSM Tuners. They're saying it could be a few hours at $130/Hr but it depends on how far out the tune is already. I can afford an hour but not much more. Maybe I'll just part out my Cav for cash since it's totaled.

Thanks for the heads-up tho, it's nice to get reassurance about places that will be molesting my cars.

Sounds good. I'll probably give the shop a call soon. Do you work at the shop or just know about it, just curious? I'm not sure if you saw my post in the Exterior Forum, but my Z is totaled and I'm looking to get the frame repaired. Do you know of any shops around Akron that will do a free evaluation? Thanks man.
