Alright. I just recently replaced my clutch with a spec Stage 1 because of lack of money. After doing so about 70 miles later the new throw out bearing quits working as does my temporary fix for the transmission. I just got the car back to my place. and proceeded to bleed the throwout bearing thinking it could just have had air in it cause it would work after doing so. And It had been working but quit wanting to disenage the transmission. So I bleed it just like I read in here the other day. and went good no air coming out that I could see. Well I hope inthe car to move it to get it in my garage and When I get in I start it up and go to depress the clutch pedal and it won't engage. so I was like chit. So I let out the clutch and I have the car running i move the shift around and it goes in I was like alright that is odd. so I depress the clutch and it starts moving. With the clutch depressed it moves and out it don't move. Anyone have this happen before? Any ideals?
you didnt torque down the pressure plate...my buddy had the same prob...2-3 of his bolts were tight but not torques and the pressure plate was at an angle causing the throwout bearing to not engage. we ended up having to geta new throwout bearing cause the bearing went out from the angle of the pressure plate.
sorry if it sounds confusing..
but basically it wasnt tight and broke the throwout bearing.....the clutch was still fine but needed a new bearing and re torqued
That is odd, Must be I didn't go around. But I could've swore I torqued around 2x's I'm pretty i'm gonna need a new clutch plate to.

could smell it burning. When I was getting it to a garage. Bad part about being away from where you live and having something happen to your car. 40 miles from home. and didn't have know of where to go until I got ahold of my brother who works over there also told me of a garage to take it to. And got it back over here and when I was trying to get it in my garage it stared smoking really bad.

worse part is it is was brand new.

I had that same exact problem with my SPEC stage 1.
4 of my 6 pressure plate bolts had backed themselves out cause I didnt torque them down enough. Once I tightened them down it worked flawlessly.

I havn't had the time to tear it open. Cause I had to dig out our septic tank. I'm hoping sometime around the beginning of next week to get the car jacked up and open it up. I still think I need to get the tranny rebuilt. so I'm not sure if I"m gonna be able to tell if that solved the problem other than if the bolts are loose.
What is the torque spec on the bolts? I'm working on my engine swap, and I want to make sure I dont have to go back in there once it goes back together.

ummm, real tight?
To be hinest I dont know. Just make sure you use threadlock on them bolts.

The torque specs for the flywheel to the crankshaft are 22lb/ft +45*.The pressure plate is 15lb/ft +45*.Just make sure you put some red loctite on the bolts.When i did my clutch/flywheel,i just put some loctite on the bolts and tightened them down with my impact gun.Ive never had any problems with the bolts coming loose.The only time i use my torque wrench is when im changing a head gasket or bearings.

Cripes, sorry bud. That post about your post was a bit confused. I forgot about how we don't have an edit button, and I thought it was 2 different posts by 2 different people. Not just an error correction. I thought you were trying to point out someone elses error. My apologies. 22lbs is the spec that I had you said really tight it threw me off. And the last thing I'd want to do is take it back apart over something like that.

No worries. Like I said all I did with mine is tighten it down as tight as I could get it with a wrench. AKA Real tight.
