HI guys im new to this forum but not a noob with cars and i did sum searching on the 3spd tranny for the 3.1 and didnt find a solid answer to my question so i need to know if there is any sort of upgrades for the 3spd auto or should i just go 5spd? im leaning more to the 5spd since i havent really seen any upgrades for this slush box. if any one has any better ideas please let me know.

Here's a couple of threads covering the 3 Speed TH125C / 3T40: 3 Speed Finally Done, by Event (an older post, pitures are nolonger available, but still some good info) and Stock Torque Converters, 3 speed gears and more! by me (the pictures have expired on my host, but I'll rescan them sometime and rehost them).

thats sum good info i was just getting to the point of no hope for my auto untill u showed me this. I dont have all that many mods but is there a better torque converter that i can find in other 60*v6 cars that had a slightly higher stall. Or should i stay with wat i have 4 now until i get other bolt ons. cuz i also plan on getting a bigger TB and have my intake plennum swapped to one from a 93 camaro v6.

If not V6 cars/minivans there are also some 4 cylinder cars that might have what your looking for.

There should be a alpha-numeric code on a tag on the drivers side top of the tranny. Post what you have and I might be able to tell you what TC, what gear ratio and what drive chain sprockets you have. From there I could help guide you to a better set-up.

The books I currently have don't list this transmission, this isn't the first time I had that tranny code. When I get a little more time I try to research it a little more and see what I come up with.
