The VQ35DE in the G35 Sedan vs Coupe... whats the major differences?

I ask because it seems odd to me:
- Sedans have either mechanical or electric fans...
- 260 HP vs 300

Either way, when I buy a G35 (either later this year or early next) it's going to be a sedan, and I want to build it up to make 300 (same as the coupe) without having to go to forced induction... Conversely, when I DO decide to go Forced, I want to get as much out of that as I would with a coupe.

Any info?

I would think mostly programming. And maybe diff exhaust.

I was sorta thinking that, but there's a 40 hp difference... I figured there was something with the cams as well.

I don't see why both didn't get the 300 hp engine, but then again, I'm just a computer geek

They probley traded 30hp for more trq with the programing becuase obously the sedan is heavier. Check the trq specs becuase i am guessing theirs a diffrence.

You should have just PM'd me The 03-04 sedans had 260 in the autos. The 6 speed had 280. Then in 05 they kicked up the auto's to 280 and the 6 speeds to 298 like the coupes again. The 07's have 306

My girlfriend's brother is a mechanic at the local Nissan dealership and he's a total NIssan gearheaded freak. I'll ask him for ya, Gam. He should know.

G sedans are AWD i believe. and ur gonna need FI to make any real power out of the VQ, i have a Z and am on my350z.com all the time. people complain that they make almost no power with bolt ons because the engine, or so i read, is already maxed out and everything on it is tuned to efficiency. so FI is the only way to get a good amount of power

Im out there Jerry and Im LOVIN EVERY MINUTE OF IT

i thought the intakes were different from the G to the Z....but i'm not an expert really

ecotecpower: Yeah... I fergot that you were the resident NISMO guru...

Cosmo: no, the G35 comes in 3 flavours (at least what I'm looking for), G35X is the AWD variant, but I'm not looking AWD juuuust yet. I've got the Alero for winter duties. Also, AWD versions are a bitch to add FI to.

DTP: I think so, there is a 350Z intake from Jim Wolf Tech that I saw a while ago, it doesn't have a tuner tube or some such obstruction, it was noted in the product description. Either way, I'm thinking that until I go with a S/C I'm not going to go with anything more involved intake wise than the JWT pop-charger.

Yeah the intakes are different. The Z is just a straight through design. The G has extra chambers in it for some stupid reason. Actually the difference from the Z's 287 and the G's 280 IS the intake tube LOL

If you do the JWT pop charger get the Z tube to.

JWT is awesome! Go to www.g35driver.com Everything you'll ever need to know. Theres a company making well over 450whp daily drivers with no issues

Oh and we just had our first supercharged 350z in the shop today!! Very nice set up. ill post a pic in a few minutes.

I'm not that big a fan of the Stillen S/C. Just MHO but I don't like the idea of cutting the hood and putting a blister on it as well, just wrecks the lines of the front end. It was one of the reasons I basically ruled out Stillen's setup, and figured I'd go with either a Vortech S/C setup or the HKS twin turbo setup.

Even that would wreck it in my mind, I love the lines so messing with them at all is like gilding the lily.
