Anyone know what hp this car puts out stock and what kind of motor is in it?

awesome car, my parents have one, with 250 000km, the engine is bullitproof, the manual tranny in it is really hard to shift, and get into gear, but has held up awesomely. The car runs soo good now, and still gets close to 47 mpg (CDN gallon, not us) so i think its closer to 40mpg us..but still really good to say how old it is.
It has a 1.9L engine.
My parents are thinking of buying a Saturn Aura, so hopefully I can convince them to sell the SL1 to me for $500 or something and use it as my daily driver!!
my parents have a 95 sl1... pretty much the best beater car you can ever buy. i'm being completely serious, too
I was just curious as to the hp,some guy on streetfire says he can beat my cav w/n2o and I used to own a 91 saturn 4 door, good little car till I wrecked it.

Crower performance parts makes a few parts for the 1.9L as well as the Ecotech. I've been thinking about getting a mid 90's SC to have some fun with ever since I saw the yellow Turbo'd SC that Saturn engineers built.
well this guy from Streetfire I guess has this car and says he runs a 14.2 with I/H/E and he runs a 50 shot of nitrous but he says the 14.2 run was without the juice,I don't believe it.

FYI, his engine is a DOHC, not SOHC. DOHC (SC2, SL2, SW2) puts down around 115ish WHP stock, versus the SOHC's (SC1, SL1, SW1) 90-something WHP. And he's got the bulletproof, "race-ready" MP3 manual transmission - er, had, I see he blew out the diff pin. That is the trans that most guys with turbo Saturns run because it has longer gears to build better boost. I remember that guy (boostinsidewayz)from one of my Saturn forums, he knows his stuff pretty good from what I can tell. So with all that, esp on juice, I wouldn't doubt that he could take you. I had a near-stock 95 SC2 5 speed and it definetly felt much quicker than my 2200 auto Cav sedan. Thats not surprising at all though, seeing as my Cav got dynoed at a piddly 95 WHP

on 16" LS Sport rims, plus tons of extra weight compared to the Satty.
I'm seeing that you do have a good bit of performance work done, or soon-to-be-done. But you are still a tank compared to his Saturn.

How is it hard to shift? I had mine modded to a short shifter, but I had no problems with clutchless-shifting or clutch-shifting.

I just don't believe he ran a 14.2 without juice as he claims and if I ran a 100 shot I still don't think he could beat me,but your right in weight comparison I am about 800lbs heavier. But I always use the same line if someone in a coupe/sedan beats me"You still don't have a convertible"LOL

a girl i work with has a 1998 and she loves it. the only think i hate about those cars is the brake lights are soo small i hate it. but yea the motors in those cars lost a long time and the 3 door coupe is def not a bad looking car.
