Decided to buy a v8 as my fun car and keep the Sunfire as a relaible DD. Its a 1995 Firebird Formula
-Has a motor swap to a 97 motor (stock spun a bearing)
-Magnaflow Catback
-K/N Intake kit
-19'' ADR's on Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars
-Hurst Shifter
-Panasonic Deck
-Manual Fan Switch
-Full DSG Paint Job (doors jambs, underhood, everywhere)
-Big Block Cowl hood
-Winter Stored
-Full 1999 Ebony LS1 Interior
Best part of it all is it was a really nice older man who owned it. He's kept all the stock parts (including an entire stock topend setup, hello porting) as well as a spare stock hood painted to match and another set of wheels. I plan on putting the stock hood on, getting some nice TT2's, suspension mods, longtube headers and a y pipe, then spray maybe. Figure this will keep me till I'm done school and have a career and home at which point I will buy my LSx car.
Oh and I paid 3500 US.
So it has a LT1 or a LS1?
Nice car.

-Boosted LS1?
-Richmond ROD 6-speed(will get sometime)
-Posi 12-bolt(built w/eaton posi unit and richmond 3.73 gears)
-Disc brake and 5 lug swap
+little extras
I know but it says its a 1997 motor. The LS1 was in corvettes in 1997.

looks pretty good....but closed hood scoop FTL! take a dremel to that and open it up! if it were smooth in the front i could be content with the cowl opening. but that front scoop is screaming for an opening!
no digging on the vette stinger hood , and paint looks dull for some reason
what with the door panels ?
ditch the heavy wheels for something lighter weight , get some suspension mods , and have some fun beating up on t/a's , lol
Yeah, i did a double take on those door panels. What's up with the them covered in palstic?
And yes, great idea to ditch that hood. fake, non-functional Ram-air hoods ruin good cars. I personally like the Firehawk style hoods for that style Firebird.

firehawk , or the WS6 hood , plus they are both functional
Thanks for the comments guys, let me clear a few things up.
First off as I said, the stock hood is going on, then I will be saving up for a WS6 hood.
Secondly the paint looks dull in pics because the car had been sitting for 4 months prior to the pics, he just hosed it off. It looks alot better now that I buffed it up.
Thrid, I don't intend to keep the rims, either stock ws6 or tt2's will be going on there.
Fourth is that the door panels don't have plastic on them, its a silverish vynil/pleather. Either way I'm dying it black
Fifth is that my first mods will be SFC's, LCA's and relocation brackets and some springs and shock,.
Keep the comments comming!
ah , that explains the funny looks on the door panels
i think a black wheel with a polished lip would look with the body color , id use a 9" wide front and 11" wide rear with a 305 or 315
they look good with big rear tires
Yep the plan is the 17x9 TT2 up front and a 17x11 out back. I'm debating a dark graphite center with a polished lip, but I dont know. Tirews will be M/T ET streets in 315 wide
My roomate has a 96 SLP SS and i get to drive it quite a bit. I must say, although not as popular as the LS1, it's no slouch. You've already noticed all the main flaws in the car, once you get a chance to get those taken care of, you'll have yourself a beautiful car. Congrats on the upgrade
Great choice. Gotta love the V8's. Im in the same boat I bought a V8 as a fun car and I kept the cavy as the DD.
I feel that car will be a collectors car in the future.
