window removal and replacement
Thursday, February 08, 2007 6:20 AM
My pass door has a ding in it that is going to cost me more to fix than to replace. my only concern is that i have my windows tinted and the replacement doesnt. I can't take my car back to the place that tinted me as its 13 hours away. How hard would it be to remove my tinted window and put it in the new door. It is manual locks and windows.

not hard at all. i actually replaced my drivers side window when someone broke into my car.

take the door panel off and remove that plastic film
roll the window down until you can see one of the nuts thru one of the holes in the door. (there are 2 nuts total that hold the window in place).
remove both nuts and tilt the window towards the front of the car (since the 2 nuts are off, you are free to move the window)
now that the window is tilted, pull straight up and you will be able to get the glass out.

to replace it, slide the glass in on an angle then position it.
the glass has a retainer on each end and there is a little cut out in the retaint that allow the retainer to rest on the bolts for the door frames.
lay the retainers on the bolts and then reattached the nuts

note: once the glass is out, you are able to move the bolts on the door frame to any position that you like. try to line everything up as best as possible

rear passenger as in a 4dr or that rear quarter window? if its a 4dr then yeat its the same way and yea it is pretty easy. the hardest part is getting the door handle off. i replaced my glass in a total of 15 mins and it was my first time ever doing it.

yea you can either talk to shifted or eazy (joey baggs). its pretty much glued in place and you have to remove the c pillar which is held on with a strong adhesive. check out eazy progress thread in the p&m forum, i think shifted talked about how to remove it in there.

never heard of piana wire where should i go to get that? and like the post asks...what kind of adhesive do i need to put it back in place? Should be pretty easy, so 'saw' it out and get all the old adhesive off with touch or heat gun and then sit the new one in there with adhesive and the the black seals back on? sounds about right?
