headlight parts
Monday, October 22, 2007 7:25 PM
Hey guys, I have had the 00 cav front end on my car for a while, and something about the headlights
has always bothered me. I think i am missing a peice that locks the bulb housing to the headlight housing. Does anybody know anything about this part? I was thinkin about throwing up an add in the classifieds, going to the junkyard, or biting the bullet and calling up gm, but i want to be sure that the part i am looking for exists.

its just a headlight retainer clip<<< that might not be the exact name but there only 5-10 from GM i had to replace both of mine when i had the 00, they are easy to break the tabs off... so id just get new ones from gm so there not brittle and break apart when u install them

I got the baggy still will i bought new ones from gm when i did my swap. So if u need the part number for em its: 16524656
also you got to make sure your headlights are not aftermarket.. that they are original gm. If you look in that pic you see the bulb retaining clip has 3 like wings on it to lock it in. now GMs are just a complete circle with some fins inside and tabs on the inside, the fins hold the bulb from the back and the tabs lock into the headlight.. just make sure because I've found that out the hard way.. as for getting the aftermarket retaining clips i have no idea because i just checked and there are no numbers or identifying marks on it..(helps when u have spare parts laying around to be able to check on these things lol) but i'd try with getting ahold of jason because i believe he sells the same headlights so he may be able to get u a retaining clip. also a quick way to tell if they are aftermarket or oem is look on the bottom of the headlight like the "floor" of the housing where people have painted black, and if there are tons of little fins towards teh back where the bulb is its oem, if its aftermarket its just the same "wave" all on the bottom. if you want pics of what i mean by that lemme know.

This is what the GM clips look like
