at least the sunfire LOOKS like a sports car, nothing at all stands out about a cavalier, they are ugly pieces of crap and i would never buy one

IMO the 98 sunfire gt is the best looking stock j-body, 2003 is good too though

also, why is it that i don't know any dudes with a cavalier...only girls???
IN ALL HONESTY the cav and the sunfire are both more of a girls car then dudes car...cheap, economical, and weak as hell

Thanks for the help. I am leaning towards a 98 or 99 Sunfire GT. I just have to search for a good deal now.

sunfire man, I like the 95-99 cavy fronts, but I like the sunfire rears way better, theyre sportier looking......... i had a cavalier 98 z24 and traded it in for a sunfire gt 99....... I like it alot better...... your opinion though

what about the rear bumper on the new sunfires....it must stick out 2 feet from the trunk and the reverse lights on the bumper make it look even more obese.

Dosnt the Sunfire GT have the Traction Control switch? Something the Z24 should have had.

I think you are refering to the old fires. The new ones have them on the trunk lid.

I get told over and over by girls that I have a "girl car", just my girlfriends joking around with me. Cavalier is 70% women drivers I believe.

here's my breakdown:
95-99 -- Sunfire
00-02 -- Cavalier
03+ -- Sunfire by a mile

Go by the interior because if your buying it used its a lot easier to trade out the front end of whatever car you like better exterior wise than it is interior wise.

Re: Sunfire GT or Cavalier Z24

^ that's a valid point... but I would have said which rear end do you prefer... you can always change the interior (as complicated and time-consuming as that is)... but you'd have a really difficult time changing the rear end of a Cavalier to a Sunfire... or vise-versa.

Not everyone is as insane as most of us here... willing to swap entire front ends to customize the car to whatever end...

95 - 99 fires are the best all all around. i hate the 00-02 rear bumper. the best cav would be 03 + the lip and chrome wheels IMO

maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day

95-02 z24's imo are the best looking j's ever made........where people are gettin off saying that the 95-99 sunfires look better .......if youre gonna buy a sunfire, please buy one 03-up . they look meaner.

The only good z24's are the ones from the 80's the new one's look like a cavalier with a sticker. The Sunfire GT's are way better looking in and out. The 03 cavalier's are cool looking though.

I don't understand why the dog is being used as analogous to the Cavalier.

Quote:

cav·a·lier

n.
1. A gallant or chivalrous man, especially one serving as escort to a woman of high social position; a gentleman.
2. A mounted soldier; a knight.
3. Cavalier A supporter of Charles I of England in his struggles against Parliament. Also called Royalist.

adj.
1. Showing arrogant or offhand disregard; dismissive: a cavalier attitude toward the suffering of others.
2. Carefree and nonchalant; jaunty.
3. Cavalier Of or relating to a group of 17th-century English poets associated with the court of Charles I.

^^that breed of dog in the first picture is a Cavalier.

Anyhow:

Quote:

Well look at it this way, someone once said (sorry I cant remember who)...the Cavalier looks like a grown up Metro and the Sunfire looks like a mini Firebird

I won't take full credit, but it sounds like something I would ahve said (except "embryonic firehawk" for the Sunfire)

Still:

I think the 1999, 2k, and 2k1 were the best years, mechanically for the z/gt. Exterior--has to be the 2kSFGT--the front end was a lot better--and the bumper i can tolerate.

Another thing i look at is this: Everyone and their freaking GRANDMA around here owns a cavalier...they are like camrys and accords...

Sunfires (especially the GT's) are rare around here...i think i've seen maybe 10--from 1995-2002 year models. I've seen at least 30 Z24's

Or--from JBNW: I've counted (not including BCJ members), only 2 sunfires (and one 2 sunbirds). The rest are Cavaliers...

I'd rather be different and criticized than be a lemming.

And, the 2k3+ cavies...when did Elenor Roosevelt become a car?

I say the 03+ Sunflowers (Yes I said Sunflower, I've been caling them that since I got mine ) are the best looking of the 3rd gen J-s. To me, they look more sporty, and definately have a more muscular attitude about them.

To me, the sleeker "coke bottle" shape of the Sunfire, and the "mean" front end make it look more agressive and ready to take on the road.

Plus I'm willing to bet that if they were limited to 1500 total of each car, more people would be clammering for the Sunflower instead of the Cavalier.
