judging by the ribbed rocker arm/valve cover, and the intake manifold/throttlebody, its an older 2.2.

through 97... 98 was the transition year

yea i know the 98-99 2.2 are different then the pre 98s but i thought that tb only came out on the 95s and possibly the 96s? i could be wrong since i dont know much about engines.

well... ive owned 95-08 2.2's... its definitely pre 98... my s10s got the smooth valve cover and my 97 doesnt...but i thought the tb's on the 95-97 were the same... i cant picture what my 95 or 96 tb looked like!...

thats a 95-97 2.2 98 and up are 2200 with the plastic intake tube

thank-you for all the help

So I'm trying to figure out where the coils are mounted on the 97 2.2L if any one has a pic to show that would be great.

They go on the back side of the block above/near the oil filter. You should be able to find a couple holes where the ICM mounts to.

Thank-you for the info but if someone could post a pick if they could find one that would be great I still cant picture where it goes
