Anybody here change the compressor clutch on a 92 Sunbird with the 2.0 engine?
This thing had weird symptoms. When I try to run the A/C, the dash lights and such dim in a pulsing cycle. As best as I can tell, the system is trying to engage the A/C clutch, but it won't engage and the dimming/pulsing was caused by the system repeatedly trying to engage the clutch.
I tried a different relay - same problem.
I also jumped the low pressure switch when it wasn't working and that didn't help.
Sometimes the A/C works with no issues and blows very cold so I know it's not a pressure problem.
Anyway, I figure the clutch coil has had enough after 15 years.
Anybody ever replace it? Can I do it on the car without discharging all my R12?
Thanks!
