Where does your stock temp gauges sit at normally?
Monday, January 21, 2008 3:05 PM
Just curious as to where everyones stock coolant temp gauge usually resides when they're driving at normal operating temps. I just replaced my thermostat today (old one would never allow the car to get up to normal operating temps) and it seems to rest just north of the half way point.

Not too worried really otherwise I'd put an aftermarket one in just to check....this is more of a curiosity question.

Mine in my 99 Z usually sits between half and 3/4 on the gauge, after wondering about it for years I finally had the chance to hook it up to a scanner/reader and go for a drive, much like I had figured my gauge reads off by about 35-40 degrees F.

thats about where mine sits, then the fan kicks on and it returns to halfway. You can do what im going to do, the cooling fan mod.

I've long had the cooling fan mod done. Seems like most everyones sits at the same point as mine. Thanks for the responses!

Humm....mine sits between the 1/4 and half....it never goes past the half way mark and when it does the fan kicks on and it goes back down to 1/4....what i done to mine was changed the thermostat and took the radiator out of it and sprayed it down wit water and got all the gunk out of it and reinstalled it wit new radiator fluid...sshh after that it hardly goes past the half way mark, been drivin in cool ever since!

195 on the dot from summer to winter, never gone above the 195 line so far except for when my cooling fan took a @!#$ on me and even then it barely crept over it since it was -20 outside

A hair under 195 normal, 2 bars over 195 sitting still and the fan turns on.
