no straight answers

I found a 94 sunbird w/2.0 ohc for parts for my 91. the 94 has a broken timing belt. Some people say the valves are bent, some say no. Can someone tell me if the 94 ohc eng.bends the valves when the timing belt fails?

I broke a timing belt driving down the road at about 60 or 70 km/h. The 2.0 OHC is a non-interference engine so the valves should be fine. Mine were at least, just threw in a new timing belt and tensioner (it was actually the tensioner that exploded, but same effect nonetheless) and it was good to go, still runs today as good as ever, 206,000 km later. (Knock on wood)

the timing belt on my old sunfire went (also had the 2.0L OHC) 5 of the tabs actually broke off due to wear.... causing the belt to fail... anyways all I did was replace the belt/water pump/ tensioner and she is still running.. the original belt lasted 214,000 km's

Thanks guys for your answers. I thought that the ohv rolled over ok,but was not sure. Im too late though. I did'nt think that the 94 sunbird with 79000 mi would go to the crusher. He was told that the timing belt issue means the motor was bad. bummer! End of that story. I think now I will look for a wrecked V6 donor.
