Fluid in throttle body

1999 Cavalier Z24 2.4L AT, 105k

I have some excessive smoking issues...so I am checking over the entire engine. When I got to the black plastic part connected to the throttle body...I found it filled with a rusty colored, watery, oily mixture. I found the same color of gunk coming off of the engine near the oil cap from the hose that runs to the oil/fuel separator. What is this stuff?

Is it blow-by?

Can the separator on the engine block be changed out?

I also have a lot of condensation on my oil cap and in the throttle body? Any thoughts?

Any one use any of the treatments or additives out there with success?

TIA

Bad head gasket? idk about your specific motor but if there are coolant passeges in the intake then maybe intake gaskets. But im guessing the fluid and condensation and smoking(white smoke im assuming) is all from coolant. Blow by is when oil goes past the piston rings generally and instead of a rusty color it will look... well like oil.

What color/condition is the oil and coolant? im betting one or the other looks like a milkshake... And with car running when you check oil is it foamy?

I knew a guy who had the same issue on a 2.4 it was engine oil because he over filled the crank case the vent valve spit it in the the intake trac.

I had fluid in my resonator that was causing throttle freezing problems.... the fluid was a rusty colored water that had a little bit of gas in it..... the throttle body was gunked up with the same type of fluid so I cleaned everything out with throttle body cleaner and let it all dry.... as for you smoking issues what color is the smoke?

That could def be the reason, becuase i do believe that the cav takes like 4.5QTS of oil, and if you do a standard walmart canister, it is 5 qts. So overfilling it could def be the issue.

But i have like boogers. Kinda like tiramisu, same color and everything in my oil line from below the intake manifold to the cam case. Im also trying to figure out why this is so.

I changed the oil and checked the coolant. Coolant was fine and clear orange color. Oil was not really milky....and there was no foam when I checked the oil. During the change I did notice some foam. Maybe about a cup full of foam for 4.5 quarts.

YES- the rust colored gunk in my plastic throttle body housing was oily- it smelled like a mixture of stale gas and burnt oil. I ran it through a parts washer and cleaned it out in about 5 mins.

If I added to much oil...what would happen? I scoped over everything and had oil everywhere. It was seriously like it started leaking from every gasket. At first, I thought I had blown the oil pan gasket because there was so much oil in that area. Next I noticed oil leaking out of the exhaust manifold. It may have also been leaking out of my oil filter area. I change my oil religiously every 3000 miles...so I am under the car about once every 2 months and did not notice this in early January.

As for the smoke...I need to clarify. I had this coming off the exhaust manifold...not the muffler. My car really does not smoke out of the muffler except when it is initially started. Then it is white.

Really sounds like head gasket to me. or intake manifold gasket.

Go about halfway down the page and look for Checking the oil in your engine, and topping up. and What happens when an engine is overfilled with oil to be specific.

Sounds similar to your situation...
