Metal jingling sound from 2200 engine

Hello all,

I've already read through many timing chain threads and I feel like my tensioners may be worn. When I start the car, there's a loud metallic "jingling" noise from the engine that happens no matter how much oil is present and continues for a couple of minutes after starting the car.

My concern is that the car only has 101,xxx miles on it and I believe that's pretty early to be replacing the chain/tensioner? What does everyone think.

It's a 1998 2200 with 101,xxx miles.

I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.

check your ac compressor for the noise...

turn on your ac and see if it stops. if it does, thats your problem. what i did, was just run a shorter belt and skipped my ac. lucky for us, its a direct factory option to not have AC so if you dont want to replace it, you dont have to.

i had the same prob, check the STARTER, alot of times the pin inside the starter gets worn down and makes our cars sound like their playing symbols at a christmas play. just figured i would jump in on this.

Is the car a 5-speed or auto? If it's a 5-speed, if the throw out bear is going out it will make this noise till it warms ups.
