Probably a wiring problem in the ignition switch bypass for the remote starter.

I'd bet you inadvertently kicked the wires under the dash. The moron who installed my alarm and remote start at the dealer must have ran out of good zip ties. My wife (yeah o.k.) must have kicked something under the dash and broke one of those ties that held all the alarm stuff up and out of the way. One day I couldn't get my remote start to work and couldn't disarm the alarm with the fob. Then of course I ended up rewiring all his connections before mine would work right and of then using manly zip ties to tie it up.

Like mentioned above, the wiring for your starter disable probably came loose...

When someone installs an alarm- they usually install a starter disable. Which basically means, they cut the power wire to your starter & run it through the alarm box under the dash...

This helps prevent people from stealing the vehicle, but it also keeps you from accidently hitting the starter while the vehicle is already running.

The output for the remote start is probably hooked up to the starter side of the wire. So even if the wire has come disconnected- the remote start would work, but your key would do nothing...

Whenever I install alarms, I don't hookup the starter disable unless the customer requests it & the only reason why is, if the alarm fails- you can still start your car.

Just because you have never had a problem with your alarm before, doesn't mean its not the issue now... If its going to break, it has to happen sometime.

I found a lousy pic online, hopefully it gives you an idea of what I'm talking about.
