lucas is the best stuff you're gonna get.

but its really thick, so it'll shift even firmer. but anyway a firm shifting trans is a good thing.

I sell car parts all day, and I definitely recommend the Lucas transmission formula. I don't like their oil stabilizer, but the transmission stuff has too many impressed customers to argue with. But the above poster is right, changing the fluid out is the best thing for it.

May I suggest something a step above that.It is royal purple while I have used lucas trans product and no complaints,I switched to royal purple in my trk a 87 mazda 5spd and used there differential oil in my trans and rear end and all I can say this is a step above!I realize u have a automatic and I am sure they make a dex 3 version and u may pay more but,it is well worth it and this is the best stuff ever.I have looked for the dex 3 to use in another veh but, have not found it yet and carquest seems to carry more royal products and I just did not look there to see if they carried the stuff I recomm. And I will agree changing the fluid does make a big diff if it has lots of mileage on it.Check carquest autoparts I am sure they have it.

seafoam= garbage

i really liked the lucas..i used it in my old sunfire (95)

put the lucas in at the same time you do your transmission fluid AND filter......i did and it stopped my transmission from slipping the little it was...original tranny and they car died at 345000km...and not because of the transmission

make sure your clean the tranny pan as well when you do your filter.....i had alot of metal shavings

make sure the TV cable is set properly, if it is the 4 speed auto

it needs to be

or shifting problems will occur

and early trans death as well(burn up)

make sure that the TCC is not stuck locked in too, for this will affect shifting as well

with a higher mileage tranny you need to run a seal conditioner, to soften up the seals that are old, hard, and been hot alot, so that they can do their job again inside the trans and not leak and so forth

good luck

The first thing i did was change the filter and the fluid. The transmission still slipped thats why i was wondering what was a better additive. I went with what everyone told me. I used Lucas.
Car shifts like new, no more slipping.
Thanks for the advice.

I'm gonna say new trans fluid as well.

Don't look for any quick-fix miracle products to add to old, worn out fluid and don't use trick shift.

Get under the car, get dirty and do it right.
