Test and IAC motor?

So I'm still chasing this problem of my high idle. I have just replaced the TPS and it had no effect. I think my problem may the IAC motor. I removed the motor and pushed the pintle all the way back. I knew this would cause the idle to be high when I started the car. Sure enough the rpms shot to 3k when I started the car and didn't drop very much after 1 minute. I'm 99% sure that motor has been the source of my problems but I don't want to drop 80+ bucks on a part that I can't return. I've already blown 30 on the TPS. Is there anyway to really test this part or do I just have to blindly replace it?

Try cleaning it and the seat with some seafoam cleaning spray, also clean the plunger shaft and receiver end,
seems to have worked for me so far

check for a vacume leak ...also pushing the plunger in can damage the iac ( so it may need replaced anyway)
and depending on the car ... timing can cause this as well

this is some info from 95-00 chiltons, but is good to know about the iac.

to set the pintle position

- turn key to on (do not start car) for 5 sec, then back to off for 10 sec, then start it. for the older ones, you need to measure from the flange to the tip of the pintle and make sure it is 28mm, or 1.1 inch, but this won't apply to the newer ones.

to check the sensor itself to see if it is faulty or not ( i don't think yours is since it's doing it with both iac valves, unless they are both broken)
- measure resistance between terminals A and B, then between C and D. they should both be between 20 - 80 ohms.
- measure resistance between terminals B and C, then between A and D. this should be infinite.

the pintle should move in or out with careful pressure, and usually when you turn the car off if you listen closely you can hear it moving.

Did a search, didn't come up for some reason.

I don't think it's bad. What I've done is disconnect the TPS while the car is running and the rpms drop. After I plug it back in, the RPM's still stay low so I parked the car out of the way and disconnected the battery to let everything reset. Usually disconnecting the battery fixes the problem. I was just trying to see if I could figure out what's actually causing the problem. I'll let it sit overnight disconnected and see what it does in the morning. I'm starting to think I have a bad ECM. If a sensor or the IAC motor was bad, the problem shouldn't go away just with a battery disconnect. I wouldn't think at least. No vacuum leaks that I can find either. I'll try your suggestion for setting the pintle position when I hook it all back up tomorrow.

how far is it supposed to move cuz i think mine is trash i cleaned it with everything and it only moves about half a cm or less
