Electrical connector issue
Monday, April 13, 2009 11:52 AM
Hello,
I am having an issue on getting the main electrical connector in the engine bay to detach from it's bracket. The connector is under the airbox. from thier it goes through the firewall. That is the connector I can not seem to get off the bracket. Anyone care to help me out? I seem to have a bad connection in the thing which causes 5 circuits to all of the sudden have no power at sporadic times.

There's a bolt in the middle of it... if you haven't already undone it, it's a 7mm I believe.

What side will the bolt be on? I looked and did not see any bolts on the left or right side of the thing. thanks though. that explains the PITA it is to try to get out.

Top side... towards the firewall.. it's in the middle of the batch of wires, you may have to move them out of the way (spread the wires like Moses supposedly parted the red sea?) to get a 7mm socket in there.

Got it undone. that was not actually the bracket bolt I was looking for. the one I failed to see was the one right behind and slightly under the connector holding it to the frame. that is the one I was trying to get to. Now I just have to find which wire is causing all the Dash electrical, interior lights, exterior lighting (except for the blinkers and brake lights when you press the brake), and intermitant no start (actually runs for 1 second and the dies, then will crank for ever but never fire until you let it sit there for 5 minutes). Removing the Batt 1 fuse in the engine bay changes nothing. Removing the Batt 2 fuse leaves the car without any power at all. So it is a Batt 1 wire. I just have to figure out all of the diferent little wires that ALSO feeds, and follow them in the harness to find out which one controls all of that, And which is the broken/messed wire. It literally makes i so no power even gets to the fuse block for those particular parts. Fiddleing with the harness betwen the fuse block and the large connector tends to fix the issue temporarily. Anyone else have this issue?
