Hey I have a 2001 Cavalier and this problem came about probably a year ago and somehow it just fixed itself. Well almost a year later it's doing the same exact thing and it has yet to fix itself this time unfortunately. You turn the key and get absolutely nothing. . . no gauges, no radio, no start. . . nothing. I took the steering column covers off and was probing the connectors plugged into the ignition switch. There is a black one on top and a white one on the bottom. I unplugged both of them and got no voltage from the white connector at all, but got 12.5 volts from the two pinks wires in the black connector. The funny thing is when I plug the black connector back into the ignition switch and probe the back of it I get NO voltage from the two pink wires at all which is very confusing. I think I'm going to try a continuity test on the ignition switch and if it fails I'll just replace it. I really have no other ideas. If anyone could help that would be great!
Oh and I forgot to mention. Everything on the battery side is functional. . . headlights, hazards, dome light, etc. Thanks!
