K guys I can't get my 99 z24 to start , don't seem like its getting spark or fuel. Is the fuel pump easy to get to and the coil also is there one or two to the car and how crappy is that to change ??? Also which ways are the best to test all these possibilities???????
Fuel Pump is in the tank, its not too bad, unless you have a lot of gas in it. Only one on the car.
The coil is under the IDI cover, between the cam towers.
I would start by checking all your fuses for ignition, and fuel. There is 1 in the block under the hood for fuel (a relay) and there is a fuse in the interior panel, for both fuel and ignition.
I tested my brothers cav by having him crank it while i sprayed a little starting fluid in the throttle body. It fired up and died. This will help you determine if its fuel or if its spark.
What exactly happened that it wont start? was it sitting, were you driving it and it died?
The ignition modules on the 2.4's from what I hear can fail easily, so thats a possibility.
I would ask about passlock, but I believe that will allow the car to start and run for a second and then it shuts off the injectors and kills it. I might be wrong on that though.
It could be a bad sensor too, did you have a CEL before this happened? do you have a scanner to check?

Does the fuel pump kick on when you turn on the key?

Checked all the fuse's everywhere thats why I was wondering if there was any others some where hidden or I just didn't know where they were at. I was driving the car after work which was at midnight of course and went into Walmart came back out to drive home and it just wouldn't start. It cranks and cranks but just seems as there is no fuel going to the fuel rail , which I know that there is no fuel getting to it. I unscrewed the end of the fuel rail and there was no fuel comming out when I tryed to start the car. So I'm just guessing the fuel pump is just shot....
No I did'nt hear the pump at all, should I be able to hear it even if its stock pump and not a after market???
has the battery died recently? I have had this problem with my cavalier as well as two other GM vehicles. If the theft light stays on after the ignition is left on, it means you need to reset the theft lock by leaving the key on for 10 minutes. Then after 10 minutes turn key off, and then back to on position and try starting.
So if I try this restart and it does'nt work I think that I'm just going to have to replace the fuel pump and if its the restart would that stop the fuel rail from getting fuel?????
