anyone know tricks of how to do a water pump on 2002 2.4L? , or anyone to do a water pump for cheap in Kitchener?
From what I have been told it is a lengthy process...I've heard 8 hours but not sure if its true. Someone may be able to help you out as I just change my when my motor is pulled.
this should be in maintance... not general...
basically...
drain antifreeze and remove lower rad pipe and thermostat
remove header/exhaust manifold
set jack under car and drop motor mounts
rest motor on subframe
remove timing cover
remove timing chain tensioner
remove timing chain
unbolt water pump from housing and block
slide water pump out towards driver side
----------
install new water pump,
bolt water pump to block and housing
now is a great time to replace that timing chain tensioner with a new one
set timing
reinstall timing chain cover
reinstall motor mounts (using jack to lower and raise the motor)
reinstall header
add antifreeze
----
thats basically it
