Ok, got a 2003 cavalier... have loose steering/steering wheel play and it's driving me nuts. What could it be?
"You can only feed them semen for so long before their legs fall off."
Either you have worn out tie rods or its another steering rack issue, have someone jerk the steering wheel back and forth while you look at the tie rods then steering rack for play.
At the garage we just lift the car then push and pull hard on the top and bottom to check ball joint, then side to side to check tie rods and rack that way you can actually feel the play with you hands.
I say your rack is the real problem but it is a pretty easy repair if you have the patience and the tools.

Your advice sucks, why not just STFU.
He would need to get the front end inspected, and replace worn parts, not toss a bunch of crap at it.
At what "garage" are you speaking of, cause I'm sure you dont work in an actual shop

Listen Rob, I don't want to argue because it's bull,,, He can inspect it himself before he takes it a shop, it wouldn't hurt..He can speak for himself too.
Read our forum Brian about the recall on the steerin for the 03+ cavalier.
