ok so i got a junk yard motor for my 98 cavy 2.2 5 speed. there is smoke coming out of the anti-freeze resivore well i think its smoke so can anyone help me out? i thought it could be the head gasket but i'm not sure.
in re; blown head gasket . these are just some of the things to look for . is there lots of water leaving the tail pipe ? then probably . does your motor oil look cloudy and milky from water being in it ? then probably . is there dark oil clouds in your antifreeze ? then probably . is there a loss of compression on any of your cylinders ? then probably . is there a loss of acceleration ? then possibly . is it hard to start ? then possibly . does it want to quit at stop lights ? then possibly . has your gas mileage gone away ? then possibly . is there a check engine light ? then possibly . stop driving the car and see a real mechanic as soon as possible before you do real damage and have to replace the motor , instead of just the head gasket .
um yeah i am a mechanic bud i was seeing if there was any other possible thing and yes the oil is cloudy and yeah its kinda hard to start and i haven't driven it yet i just put the motor in it and filled all the fluids and the antifreeze was going somewhere so i checked the oil and it was cloudy but i'm not that stupid to drive something with a blown head gasket
exhaust bubbles in the reserv tank means head gasket blown yes
