I am going to change the engine and transmission mounts and need to support the engine. Some people say you can support the engine by the oil pan, but on this vehicle the pan is not flat, it is angled. So I don't think this is an option.

I have also heard you can support it from the transmission pan. The transmission is flat, so that could work, if that truly is an option.

If it is, I've been told I can use block of wood (such as a 2 x 4), but others say to use a sheet of plywood.

Does anyone have any more specifics regarding this?
