my car is in europe and im doing the auto to 5 speed to swap, i have everything i need exept for the right cluster. my car is a 99 Z24 2.4L i have the original automatic cluster (digital), what will happen if i keep it in there with the new 5 speed ecm? the only difference i can see between the two is the P R N D 3 2 1 marks.
I also have a 5 speed cluster, but its from a 96 Z24 and its analog, what would be a good choice to use in my 99 Z24....Those are the only two choices i have.

I don't think the 96 cluster would work (no BCM right?), it probably has a different connector, and then you'd have to re-wire it..

I changed my 97cluster(basic one) from my 5spd to a cluster from a 97 auto Z24. Got the wrong one, but it still worked. Do not have the upshift light and of course the PRD123 dont light up. As long as u keep the same year it should still work. Some member in j-body gave me this info. Forgot who it was though. I have no problems with it all. Unless ur picky, u can try to get the right one but keep the cluster the same year at least.
im not sure if my car has a BCM, its a 99 Z24, can anyone tell me?
as for the cluster, the 1996 looks the same as far as i can see, it has the connector for the Theft thing and the harness looks the same, its just the ODO thats different, i dont even care if the odo works, just the speedo, tach, and gas/temp. i'm not sure if they changed anything in the 99 model, i'm in europe now and i cant seem to find any on ebay.
Analog with analog and digital with digital. Thats how i was told. If u dont get the same year try to get a digital one at least one. I know that my 97 couldnt work with a digital because mine is analog. As for as a BCM, I dont know. Maybe thats why I cant use a digital.
