burnin' oil.

For the past month or so I've noticed the my car is burning a little oil. Not a lot, but its still burning it. I thought at first it was the hose that runs from the PCV to the Intake. The hose was pressed up against the back of the TB and was just about pinched off. I replaced that but no luck. Since the oil burning started, whenever I stop and let the car idle the temp gauge rises and sometimes it will idle rough. I'm thinking of taking off the intake manifold to have a look at the PCV valve itself. Would a bad PCV valve cause the temp to rise at idle? I really hope its the valve.

Have rebuilt quite a few engines in my lifetime.

Now you said your car is burning oil, is it actually burning it, blue smoke out the tailpipe? If so your piston rings are most likely fried, see the rings are sealing and the they are letting oil into the combustion chamber, causing the blue smoke.

By the way, one of the most common ways to see if your PCV system is operating correctly. Open your air filter box, remove the air flter, see an oil? If so your PCV valve may very well be shot.

When you remove the PCV valve rattle it, does it make a rattleing sound, if no, than it is 100% for sure shot.

Valve seals may be leaking.
