Question about transmission fluid cap

Is there supposed to be a bolt on top of the hole where you change the tranny fluid? I changed mine a few months ago and there was no bolt on top of the hole...I just dumped the tranny fluid into the hole and it went to the pan....is there supposed to be a bolt on here?? lol, because I've been driving it forever without one.

I wouldnt call it a bolt---

Yes, there is supposed to be a cap on the transmissions fill spot.

Nope no bolt. You did it right. Just untwist the top red cap and fill through there.

You may be refering to the check plug on the tranny, that is on the passenger side of the tranny. Can only get to it from the underside. You use that to check to make sure the tranny is full. If you need directions for doing that lemme know. It's a PITA

No I mean on the top where you add more fluid..not the check plug...I didn't even take off a red cap...just dumped the oil right in...I'm guessing I'm supposed to have a red cap over it?

My car is a 2001 Z24.

yeah, if there's no red cap on the top of the tranny i'd go to the dealer and get one.
