Have any of you guys used SeaFoam to clean the carbon out of your combustion chambers? I have some pinging from my 2.4 and thought I might give it a try if there has been success with it on this forum.

G.M. sells a product called top engine cleaner that does this. Its part number is
12345089. You can get it any dealer.
But Seafoam should be the same thing. And yes it works well.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
I've used seafoam before. Pour it right down the throttle body or through a vaccum hose. Makes cool smoke and made my idle much smoother. Advance Auto is where I get mine
Do a search for "top engine cleaner" and you'll get a ton of results, experiences about using it. I've used it on my car several times, good stuff!
Is it best to use SeaFoam right before an oil change? I don't want to mess up my Mobil 1.
SeaFoam is good stuff as well as GM top engine cleaner...I'd definitely use it before you change your oil since it will loosen up that carbon build up but i suppose it doesnt make a huge difference.

If you ever put seafoam in your oil about 100 miles before an oil change, It def does more then you think.
The crud that coms out is rediculious.

Seaform rocks! Nuff said. That stuff can be used for anything. Oil, gas, vacuum lines, the possiblities are endless

Do you just pour Sea Foam in the gas tank?

Read the can.
You can put it in both your gastank and oil, as well as from the top of your TB and Brake Booster Vacume Line.
I would highly suggest the vacume line as opposed to top of TB. I really be worried about getting the TB sensors messed up.

i use it all the time... i am courious if you can use it with synthetic motor oil? anyone know? but yea i use it by pouring it in the throttle body works great and makes a awsome smoke show

hehe
Hmm......I think that I need to use this soon...........
yea.... i pouered it into my TB and is @!#$ things up for me.... but it did clean the oil and i got better gas milage.
As the others have said, Seafoam is great stuff. I've used it multiple times, usually through the brake booster line as the engine is running. Sucks it right up and chuggs white smoke out the exhaust
I actually just picked up some of the spray recently too. Its called Seafoam Deep-Creep, similar to the regular stuff only in an aerosol can. I'm going to clean out my TB and engine as soon as I get a chance.

Pouring it straight into the TB is fine. What sensors are going to get messed up?? The IAT sensor is on the intake tube, and the MAP sensor is integrated into the intake manifold. We don't even have MAF sensors on our cars, so thats not a problem either. The only thing that really comes off of the TB is vacuum lines.

What exactly did it mess up?? Perhaps you poured it in too fast and flooded out the engine. That can happen if you are pouring it straight into the TB with the engine off.

any auto parts store will carry it. go look
i use sea foam. works great

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
I dumped a can of that stuff in my engine oil and wow...all the funky lil noises from your engine just stop...its great. But ya gotta change your oil afterwards cuz theres alot of funky stuff laying in the pan that it cleans out. also put it in the gas tank of our explorer and it cleaned the injectors and saved me alot of money. its good stuff, my mechanic swears by it.

ive used it a few times before, like 3 times. my lord did i ever get a smoke show when i started driving off. its COOL!!

but, i should pick up 2 cans of it. one can for my oil, the other can half it between my gas tank and my tb. i pour mine in there instead of using the brake booster line. but, all in all its a great product and works good also.
"God invented turbo lag to give V8's a chance"
Rather than dump the SeaFoam down the intake manifold of my 2.4L, wouldn't it be better to remove the sparkplugs, pour a few ounces of SeaFoam in each, put the plugs back in, crank the engine a few revolutions, wait the half or full hour and then start her up?
I'm ready to try some of this stuff because my car is a 98 so I'm sure there is alot of build-up. Does anybody have any pics of exactly where I need to put it in at?

I vouch for the seafoam works great ,used it in my gas, used in my riding mower, weedeater, and my tractor trlr whoa this stuff kicketh the az.
where is the best place to put the Sea foam for the 2200 motor. im going to go look for it tomorrow at auto zone
Hey 01 sun advance is WAY more cheaper on the seafoam 4.94 vesus 5.99 at the zone.I have just poured it in to my oil fill cap and added to my gas tank. Some have bought the seafoam cleaner specifically to use in the throttle body and used seafoam aeresol spray rather and soaked the tbi to clear out the carbon etc.IT comes liquid or aeresol to the best of my recolection. My gah this stuff just kicks azz.
A qiuck question...Do these injector cleaners, oil cleaners , etc...have any chance of causing a leak in your system. I've heard conflicting advice on them. Some say they are completely harmless and do only positive things for your engine, and others have said that sometimes if you remove the buildup after so many years that it can cause leaks that the buildup blocked. If anyone can put these rumors to rest, I'd be much obligued.
