new to the j-body scene, just got my car yesterday, and i noticed that the passangre side headlight is really dim, but the driverside is fine. all the lights work in the housing, but its REALLY dim. im thinking the harness but i wanted to ask first...i searched and couldn't find anything but, love the site guys...lots of USEFUL info...makes gettting to know my car so much easier.

The wires that go from the drivers side to the passenger have splices in them. They come apart overtime. Ive had it happen several times on mine. I have an 03 cavalier with 69,000 miles on it. Actually my light is dim right now and I need to find which spice came apart again. Just use a meter and check for continuity. You have to pull all of the electrical tape off the wires. Its a pain but its basically a free fix. You might want to switch bulbs or the whole liight assembly to see if the problem follows the bulb. Good luck

Sweet03cav, your a f-ing genius. that has to be it, cause on my way home from work tonight it got up to full brightness, and stayed...but will probebly do it again....oh and another question....with sensible driving, on a stock car, how many miles does everyone get to a tank? cause mines reading 50 miles and the needle hasn't moved below the FULL line....like still registering over a full tank? and im kinda scared, so i want to know when to refill if she desn't start moving

It all depends on how far you fill your tank. When I fill my tank even a half gallon more when the pump stops It will stay on full for 60 miles. I get about 100-130 miles on a 1/4 tank. I get between 360-400 miles on a tank before the low fuel light comes on. I average about 29-31 mpg. I have gotten 35 mpg before.

with regard to the headlight. Im going to fix mine tomorrow for the 3rd time. I will probably just replace all the splices while I am at it.
