Serpentine belt in one hell of a tight spot...

I took my 03 Sunfire to a friend's garage to get my serpentine belt, but they didn't leave much room to get any tools in there to take it out. What the best way to do this job? We tried to go from undernieth but there's no room from there either, lol. Is there a certain tool I need to get down in there to loosen the tensioner? How do I get the new one on once the old one is off being that there is almost no room to manuver in there?

PS - Where can I get a cheap service manual for my car, or at least for a decent price? Last I checked it was $120 from GM. Yikes...

From the bottom with the plastic cover removed. 3/8 ratchet i believe.

its easier if you remove the plastic and the wheel to get to it , but often its more work than trying to fit doing it from the top

Easy to do from the top if you've got a tensioner tool.

It's basically a long flat wrench that you can easily fit in there.

And if you've got mechanic friends, the Snap-On Blue Point ratcheting one makes the job easy as pie.

Just goto a local parts shop. Sometimes they have specialty tools for rent. I know the Canadian Tire and Parts Source does down here.

They dont even charge you for the rental, just leave a credit card deposit and a way you go. 10 minute job with the right tool.

As far as the service manual goes, check ebay. I see them on there sometimes for like 25 bucks and up.
