I need a new battery in my cavalier, from what I hear the warranty on the Delco batteries is 5 yrs. My car was made in 2001 so its still hasn't been 5 yrs yet. Would I have any luck getting a free replacement? I'm thinking the GM dealer would the place to go.

Go back to the dealer, its a warrenty thing.

if it was the original battery , its only covered with the 3yr 36k miles
plus being 5 years old youd be pro rated any ways , so its just better to get a alot better battery than the delco
hopefully your didnt leak and kill the batt cable , its common

no its not leaking , its not holding a charge, I'm gonna ask at the dealership whats their policy on it. If its not covered I'm gonna get myself a new one (delco) because I got a GM discount.

mine was just about 4yrears old original ... very weak and starting to cause starting issues in normal weather...
Wanted a good battery and replaced with a much stronger Optima Red Top!!
I'm ready for winter now!!
Nothing worse than its Minus 40F and your battery aint got any juice to start your car!!

Optimas are top of the line, excellent batteries. However, I got 9 years out of the factory original Delco battery in my '90 Cavalier and so far I have 6 years out of the one in my '99 Chevy Venture minivan.

I got another Delco , the dealer sold me a Professional Delco, I'm sure it'll be good!
The original one from the factory is not covered by any of the warranties except for the GM one.
