To make a long story short. I think the Starter on the my 98 Cav died. I called CAA to give me a tow... we were pushing the car backwards off the driveway at about 10-15 km and the tow truck driver puts the car in second or reverse (I am not too sure) to try to jump start it... we heard a loud pop from under the hood or the car. (Couldn't tell exactly where the sound came from, however it was LOUD and sounded like a POP)
My question is...
1) What was that sound? Piston? Header? Backfire?
2) Would it mess things up if he did infact put the car in 2nd to jump start it when the car is moving backwards?
Thank you very much. I am really interested if someone has experience with the sound it made.
Sounds like he was trying to push start the car.
I don't know what, if anything could have been broken though.
That's what I am worried out. I guess I will wait and see what the mechanic says.
If anyone else has any info and or experience with the sound in question please post it.
Thanks,
I'll spare you all the tech talk but it could have been back fire. Just keep your fingers crossed. Good luck
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
If it was a backfire, then there really shouldn't be any major damage correct?
I am just worried because if CAA messed up my car, then I will need to document all the events and information that led up to the POP sound for court / collections purposes including 2 witnesses that were standing on my driveway watching the car being pushed out of the driveway.
