I have a 95 2.2l Cavalier, and I think it has the 4 speed auto. I'm not sure if this is transmission based or what, but when I put the car in 1, 2, drive, or reverse, it stalls. It starts fine, and it will stay running in either park or neutral, but when I put it in any other gear, it immediately stalls. I've searched and found that it may be my plugs? I have Bosch platinum +4's. I've also heard something about a plug that I could unplug or something, like a synchronizer or something? VERY lost and in great need of help. Does anyone have any ideas?

I don't know much about the 2.2ohv auto's, but that plug you'd unplug to make it work sounds like something for the tcc(Torque-Converter Clutch). Reason why ppl unplug the tcc is because it jams actually like an engaged clutch on a manual in gear at a stop , causes it to stall. You unplug the tcc and you loose overdrive, but can still drive the car and stop whenever.
Another problem could be your IAC(Idle Air Control), it will cause the car to stall or even rpm's to flux. It's a solidiod on the throttle body, it gets dirty and acts up
I didn't think I had overdrive, but where would I find the plug at? What does it look like? I found one that is blue, right on the front of the tranny, it's square and theres four "plugs" on it. Looks kinda like a 4X4 lego block...

I suck at ascii art, but that the general shape if you look right at the plug end...
Would that be it?

It sounds about right, look like i said i don't know much about the 2.2 and the auto trans. But if i was in your place right now and really cirious..I'd pull the plug and see if the car stalls when in drive, the worst that would happen is you set a faut code. If it doesn't stall you'll need a new TCC..it doesn't cost a lot nor are they hard to do.
If it still stalls then remove your IAC and clean it along with the throttle body by using carb cleaner. Then fit all back together and test the car
Here is the link to the article by Chuck Kichline which I used to replace my TCC solenoid on a '93 2.2 Cav.
This is actually for a Fiero but is so similar it's scary.

Sounds like you do have the correct connector and some people drive around for a long time with this disconnected, just means the Torque Converter Clutch will not engage/lock up but it's all in this article.
My car drove at 80-100 KPH for about an hour before coming to a stop sign where it had to be savagely braked-it is exactly like trying to stop in a manual with it still in gear and the clutch not depressed.
If you disconnect the Blue connector you should be able to start the car and go into any gear without any problems.Reconnect that connector if you replace the TCC solenoid.
There is a slight loss of MPG with this connector disconnected, I actually replaced mine straight away so did not experience that.
Hope this helps

well, I pulled the plug and have been driving it ever since, not a single problem.

I remember in my first 2nd gen 2.8auto. I had the same prob, i pulled the plug and everythig was fine. I drove like that for a year, then decided to replace my tcc. I didn't notice any fuel gain. It just ran smoother at higher speeds, mainly because it dropped the rpms a bit..something like 500rpms(which isn't much). I know that its there to gain some mpg, but from my view it didn't happen
