Stock Air box air filters...

For all of you who still have your stock air box, this goes for a z24, 2200, or ecotec (as they all use the same air box) Do any of you have fitment problems with a FRAM replacement air filter? Call me crazy, but the damn thing seems to small, and if I push on it from the top, it slips right down into the box. Its like the fram air filter's seal is to small around the filter. I would hate to have to buy a Stock AC Delco filter from the dealership. It seems only FRAMS are for sale everywhere else.

Does anyone use this filter?

No I actually bought the Fram filter, but its rubber seal was so subpar, that they actually made it a tiny bit to small for the box, so when you put it in the box, if u give it a small push, it actually falls in!

Thats not a seal! Think of all the air that gets by! I actually got a Car Quest air fitler and it seals like a glove.

I had a K&N on a few cars, there good but I really only change my air filter about every 30k at 5 bucks a pop, but if I came across one for nothing I may get one of those again.

You know how we all have to get that reprogramming done to our ecotecs for the idle stall. (Its currently a recall)

Isnt it funny how IONS and Aleros with the ecotec do not have this reprogramming done? I always used to think it was because they re-used the super small intake box and filter from the 2200. The ions filter box is nearly 3x as big.

I put a Fram in my girlfriend's Sunfire and I had no troubles with it , it almost seemed to fit more snug then I wanted it to, but I agree with Bolt, go with a K&N, I got one in my z24 and have no complaints about it.

I've had that problem with my wife's LS. The Fram was too dinky for the box, but the correct part number. Maybe they were a bad batch?

I've stuck with Purolator air filters and had no problem since. Napa sells a good stocker as well.
