engine replacement

I am right in the middle of swapping a 95 2.2 into my 96 Cavy (also had a 2.2 which recently went bad). Aside from figuring out where all the sensor connectors go (can't wait lol), I have a couple things poppin up that I could use some advice on.

1, the temperature sending unit on the back of the block on the 95 is a different style, and thread size, than mine was. I would just splice the wires together, except that the wire was cut clean off at the connector on the new motor, so there isn't any wire to work with. Anyone else run into this, or have any ideas? I was gonna just swap out the sending unit to work with my harness, but the thread size is much larger on mine, and no place to screw it into the block.

2, Is there anything else I might run into? WIll my computer run this motor fine? The replacement engine I got, like I said, is from a 95, where my car is a 96, but all I have is the motor, itself.

RIght now, the repl. motor is in the car and bolted to the trans. I just have to hook up the harness, and starter, and put the belt on. But I was hoping to get the temp figured out before I got too far, just to be safe when I start this motor.

Thanks

not sure but isn't the 95's obd1 and the 96's are obd2?

I don't know this motor well but can you get a replacement sensor and then splice it in like you had planned to in the first place ?

crap... I think you may be right....though all I'm using is basically the block and head. All my original accessories and intake are being used. But do you think it might cause a problem with anything? Everthing else on the block, sensor-wise matches up. I'm hoping that, as far as the computer sees, it's the same thing. Especially now..I'm REALLLLLY hoping that lol.

Yeah, I'll probably have to go that route....now that I think about it, there's not much else I could've been hoping for lol. I guess I just was hoping to not have to take another trip to the scrap yard.

Thanks again

An engine is NOT OBDI nor OBDII. The Ecm is. So when you put an older engine in, only the SENSORS can cause trouble. Some sensor are not the same from one engine to the other. If you use your OBDII sensor, you can run the engine no problem.

Have you ever seen an OBDII cam? I never did so people, stop saying that engine is OBD Idontcare.
