about a month back my 97 2.2 was loosing fluid around the wheel. My mechanic thought it was the coolant resevour cap. Put a new one on from a grand am. No problems till now.
All my fluid is pouring out when my car is stopped. I traced the source and its coming from an almost faucet looking tube behind the intake manifold on the firewall.
What's going on and what broke?
Thank you for your help!
heater core by the sound of it
Really? I remember i had an AC compressor problem when i first got the car and my fluid weas leaking.
the only place coolant goes through the firewall is at the heater core
Exactly right....heater core.
If you feel like tackling it yourself, it's not hard to change, and only about 35 bucks at Autozone......BUT......it takes a while, and if you're a big guy, you might as well strip the seats and console and everything out of your way before you start.
I just did it today, and even if you're a small guy, or a child even, you might strip the seats, and make sure when you take off the lower black plastic housing that you get the bolts in the VERY front of it. They are like mm's away from the firewall. BTW, the bolts are 5.5mm, and it's easiest if you have a 5.5mm open end wrench, though I did it with a 1/4 ratchet and swivel. It was a pain, not hard, just time consuming...about 3 hours because I kept getting frustrated. It also takes alot of wiggling and jiggling to get the core itself out. Good luck
