My father in law has a 92 Z24. He complains that during highway driving while feathering throttle to maintain a set speed that he feels like a stumbling, he says it sounds like a vrrrrrrrrrrrr and feels like hes driving over rumble strips. then he gets to an off ramp and the car wil stall. it then restarts but stalls before he can get his foot from the brake to the gas. I took the car out, steady highway, up to 90 mph, off ramps, back roads and could nopt duplicate the problem...there are no stored trouble codes. Any help greatly appreciated
Just curious is it a automatic or manual trans.IF its a auto sounds like the torque convertor switch on the transm may be shot.IF so just replace the tcc switch as its called and do a transmission flush or rather change the fluid. This will correct the stalling issue.IF its a manual,I will try to repond back if I think of something.U may want to post this is the second gen forum if no one can help here in maintenance.OK
If its an automatic its the TCC (Torque Convertor Clutch)
Its about $40 to replace and very common problem in 2nd gens.
Don't let a transmission shop tell you the torque convertor itself needs replacing. They will usually tell you this trying to take your money.
Yeah Its an Auto...great thanks guys, ill change the TCC switch.
