Sorry guys, theft system
Saturday, September 10, 2005 8:29 PM
Okay, i searched, and asked before and can't really find out what i need to know about the theft system, i've been without a car for about a month and a half and i still can not find out how to get my theft light off, i heard that the cavaliers and the skylarks have some type of chip in the back of the guage cluster and i was wondering if maybe my gauge cluster is bad, cause there were a few people that changed theres out and it worked, but i was wondering if maybe anyone knew anything about this or maybe could steer me into the right direction, and i've already tried everything, i was even thinking about getting one of those bypass kits but i'm not sure how those work either so if someone could explain what they think i should do then please help me out......i'm pulling hair out now!!!! Thanx guys in advance!

do you have an aftermarket security, or is it the factory one?

Yeah Cavaliers have a built in security system. if you dont have the key and try to start the car somehow it will shut itself off. its a pain in the ass... Have you tried dissconnecting the batter cables and hooking them back up.... It might reset itself if its just tripped.... Just a thought.

check your wiring on your keyless entry, some have the abilty to diable your starter... A lot of install shops dont hook them up, but keyless entries are just like mini alarms........, and most also use the horn as oposed to the speaker thingy, but check wether or not starter disable is hooked up.

No, it doesn't flash at all even when i try to get the computer to relearn the key, it still doesn't flash.....I'm thinking it's a bad instrument cluster........cavy's have a chip in the panel for the theft system and when i bought the car they had me take it to the chevy dealer to get the panel worked on, but i noticed they didn't fix my rpm gauge from stuttering, so i think that they didn't do anything to it......

on factory alarms, i know nothing, if it was an after market one.. maybe.....

OHH........ @!#$........ just though of this........ you said you have passlock???? right....
try this......... what if you were to disconnect the wire that connects to a wire in the apsslock unit, since that wire connects to your ecu, and is the information wire........ the signals maybe getting crossed sopmewhere......... (i dunno, that might be a guess.............)
