That's not bad. The roads are cleared here in central OK but the parking lots are still iced over. Managed to drive all weekend with no problems until Monday. I goto work, roads are all nice until I hit the parking lot, try to make a turn into the worker's lot and hit ice. I ended up sliding into a pole that was used to hold up a small tree after jumping the curb. Managed to scratch a patch of paint off my bumper and then had to help one of my coworkers get unstuck after he did the same thing. Went to school today and the commuter parking lot is mostly iced which isnt surprising but at least nobody managed to get in a wreck.

that's the plain truth! after a year in CO, i have to laugh at how casually texas schools and businesses close up shop. driving habits rather crack me up as well around here...
now if i just had something aside from azenis on the car, driving on ice actually wouldn't be hazardous...other drivers would be the main concern.

Its not that people freak out, its the bumb retards that make the stupidest moves on icy over-passes. I was coming to work this morning at 4:30. So while Im driving 15mph on the over-pass, I look on to the rear-view and see this one old buick spin out of control next thing I know he lands right next to my passenger side... Yeah that shat did FREAK ME OUT!

Only good positive thing about snow is.. it covers my car and nobody can tell whether its clean or not. hehe

Rusty, thats cuz Ramon is a retard!

what she was dirty and no the car wash was actually full when i was washing my car LOL i was the only one drying my car. But what was the point of washing your car then getting on the freeway and all the sand and salt be thrown on to a wet car not pretty.

but today

weather > me

oh well its nice and clean in the garage =P

Just moving down from Wisconsin I have some insight...

1. DO NOT dump loose gravel on the overpasses. This is DUMB. Thats because the gravel will always be loose, and they don't put up "loose gravel" signs, they just expect people to be able to handle the surprise at 70+ mph. Surprise! Loose gravel! This caused more than one accident, one of which caused me to take over a 70 mile detour just to get home (overturned 18 wheeler on I-59 outside houston). You don't keep salt reserves like we do, so the next best thing is sand, which I know there is plenty of.

2. Don't do 20mph on the freeway. Doing 60 I was coming up on a guy doing a max of 20mph on I-45, which caused me to swerve out of my lane to avoid him. Luckily I wasn't on an overpass otherwise I would have lost it, not because of ice, but because people believe they can go however slow on the freeway. If you need to do 20mph, use the feeder roads. You'd be surprised how you can come up on a person doing 40 or more mph faster than them.

3. Don't do sudden speed changes on ice or gravel, even letting off the gas can cause you to lose control. If you hit ice, back off the accelerator and concentrate on STEERING the car, brakes aren't going to help you on ice. I saw tons of people hit an icy patch and slam on the brakes, they don't understand that ABS does not prevent the car from locking up, the tires still lock up, but they unlock again, hundreds of times per second. Also leave plenty of space between you and the car in front of you. People around here have a bad habit of riding each others bumpers. Works great in rush hour on a dry warm day, but causes you to get on the brakes hard on moments notices.

4. 4WD does not make you invincible to ice and snow. People get cocky in thier trucks and SUV's, 90% of the time I see a vehicle in the ditch, its a truck or SUV. Huge @!#$ing tires actually have less grip on ice and snow if they are properly inflated.

I have a 4x4 Ron...but I'm clearly invincible, does this prove you're theory wrong?

and ironically, I'm wearing a tee to work today that says don't get 'caulky' with me...

Oh snap!! I remember the orange hair. I bet my wife remembers you too! I see that this region has been taken over by mexicans in cavys, so I can still feel right at home right? We should have had name tags at that 03 Texas meet so we could know who was who.
