I'm sorry if it have been asked before, but since I don't want to be a thread jacker, that I didn't found any usefull info and that my others questions in one of my posts are still unanswered, I've made a new post. First what would be the best throttle body for my car?? Is it better to buy a new one or to give it to a shop so they could bore it. The other question is : If they bore it, what happen with the trap in the middle, do they make a new one so it fit??? I saw that 62mm and up was for boosted car, but since I don't plan to get there before a long time what's the best size. Someone told me 59, is it right? Thx!!
i honestly don't know what they do about the butterfly in the middle. i think you are best off buying one already done. 59mm for n/a and 62mm for boost.
I was a retard, and now I'm permanently banned.
Who's making 59mm throttle body for my car??? On the RSM website they only show the 62mm.
i have no idea honestly

The 62mm is good. I bought mine off ebay (riva22), but i think karo said he will put some for sale soon on his site
www.carcustoms.net.
stock on the ecotec is 58.7 mm
the plate most machine shops should beable to cut a 62mm plate for it
have the plate cut first then bore the TB to fit the plate and also when you take it all apart to install the new plate youll see you have to widen the slot in the shaft by at least 1/16th in to fit the new plate

It would be much easier for you to order one. If you take it to a machine shop they have to make throttle body plate to fit and it has to be PERFECT otherwise if it's too small, your idle will be messed up and gas mileage be messed up. In that note, just order an RSM Racing throttle body. The core is high but you get it back so it equals out or if you want look in the classifieds for people selling one for cheap. You can't get much wear and tear on a throttle body lol.

62 mm is good for N/A & boosted to tell you the truth. It's not overkill. I have it with other modifications and the gains are very good.

That would be true for the 2.2 OHV motors cause their sizes are smaller stock than the ECOTECs stock. Like 04eco said, they are about 58 MM stock so a 4 MM upgrade is good.
Bottom line, go RSM. You can buy it either in the classifieds or go to

the hardest thing with having your stock one bored is knowing HOW to bore it if they are a good shop they should be able to match the bore to plate
if you do have the shop do it have the tapered part bored on stock centerline from the plate all the way through bore it 1 mm off stock centerline away from the IAC. and like NJ said the plate fitment if very critical, the first one i had done the plate was .0025 (2 1/2 thousands of an in.) off and it cuase alot of troubles irratic idle, about a 2 mpg loss, and running very lean ; wideband proven, i personally dont discrimanate against doing. and yes on an n/a motor it does give decent gains

Yeah man I know from experience....when I met Nitro he did a quick TB job and his kept reving even at idle, up and down, up and down LOL. Of course he fixed the problem but it was kind of funny.
