I heard a rumor that a 3.8L V6 out of either a Pontiac Bonneville or a Buick LeSabre would drop right into my 1996 Sunfire GT, (which currently has the stock 2.4L) and bolt right onto my existing transmission. The transmission I would eventually replace anyways, so if that is a factor I would just replace it before the swap. The other thing is, if this would in fact work, I have a 5 speed now, so would I need to find an engine out of a 5 speed, or would it work with an engine out of an automatic?
Thanks

“Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that’s even remotely
true.
Cannon fodder is my daddy.
The 3.8 V6 in those cars are crazy. I used to have a 93 LeSabre and that thing would tear apart Cavalier's, Civic's, Focus's... It'd hold its own to Mustang's (not the GT of course). That car was crazy. It'd probably be even better in a Sunfire since it'd be pulling generally half the weight.
it might fit...but its by no means drop in.
