Hydraulic lash adjusters?
Tuesday, June 07, 2005 9:27 PM
Can anybody tell me if they use oil pressure for tension. One of the followers in my head is barely staying atop the valve stem and under the cam lobe because the lash adjuster is just limp. I can push it down about 1 and a half times farther than the rest (It's like there's no pressure behind it.).
Is there a problem here? A couple old school guys I know say that in alot of V8's they had, the lash adjuster will stiffin' up when oil pressure increases. Is this true with the Ecotec head? I don't want to fire it up with little to no oil pressure and have that finger follower slip off the lobe and valve flinging around inside the engine among other things.
I've ordered a new one for $15 from the dealer just to have it by my side, I just thought I'd toss it out to you guys... Any help???
Travis
