VSS Question...
Monday, June 20, 2005 10:21 PM
How do you know when its malfunctioning? What are some signs. Mine has been doing some spratic out of the blue weird @!#$ sometimes.. Like when i am doing about 45 ish and i decide to punch it, the car drops into a lower gear and then gets going and then does this weird backfire/misfire kind of deal like it dosn't know what the @!#$ its doing then goes back to normal. Now i am not paying attention to the speedo when this occurs because its sooo random and few and far between when it occurs. It also had done it while i have been starting out in first a few times aswell.. Only thing that leads me to belive this its related to the VSS is i have watch the needle hang a few times while slowing down and stick at like 25mph and then just drop like a rock to where its suppose to be say around 20-18mph. I have never touched the needles eithers. I plan on running Nitrous in her within a year or 2 and all i would need to have this do it have this occur at WOT spraying and i can kiss my engine good bye.

... Can a mod delete the post in maintenace?

well nitrous will only spray at WOT so the speedometer dont really need to be working sounds like maybe its loose cause the car will go into limp mode when its disconnected

Sorry to tell you but this will get locked. It might be helpful, but the crazy mods on here will lock it because you said VSS.

Yes it is. For some reason they are afraid they might get sued if someone tells someone else how to disable the speed sensor. The one thing they do not realize is internet can not be brought into court as evidence, so that would not happen. Dopes not matter because Dave and his moderators know more than the rest of us.

I don't see why it will get locked. I am not looking at disabling it. I am just wondering if i need to replace the unit if it is malfunctioning. This has been occuring for almost a yr now and the delearship dosn't know whats going on becuase it never occured when i brought it to them. So what are some symptoms? I had the car last night at WOT when it occured so its like hmmm... if i was spraying my engine would have been gone, prolly throwing a rod or somthing.

Locked because its a duplicate of the post in maintenance (where it should be in the first place), not because its discussing the VSS.
