Okay guys. My first race after new mods.
I get up to the line. Stage up. Take off. Excellent launch with little tire burn. Take it up to 5500 RPM's , clutch. shift. Stomp hard on the gas....... nothing....... there's no acceleration. I just start slowing down....there's no rev. The tach slowly starts going down to 1000rpm's then if I put it in neutral for a second then try again then second works.. then third... but by then I've already lost. running horrid times.
What's wrong? Am I hitting a limiter? Am I mashing the gas too hard? Maybe I should use the clutch more...
What I think happens is I shift too hard into second gear and catch the rev limiter. which cuts my accelerator off, so even if my foot is down to the floor there's nothing happening.
Any idea what's going on? Could it be my mods? my TPS?
Something? Maybe I should use a double clutching technique?

completely useless your transmission is fully synchronized
what else happened when the car lost power? lights dim? radio turn off mysteriously?
check your battery terminals make sure its hooked up good
did you have enough gas?

Ahem allow me to correct my esteemed colleague... double clutching is useless BECAUSE your trans is full synchronized. If you are shifting at 5500, you shouldn't be anywhere near rev limiter, unless you're leaving your foot on the gas when you shift. And you're throttle is cable actuated so you should be able to get at least SOME rpm out of it by hitting the gas.... is your check engine light on? if yes, get the codes checked at your local auto store or by a scan tool.
It sounds like it could potentially be a computer-induced limp-mode which would mean the car is pulling fuel and timing to limit power because it doesn't like the readout it is seeing from one of the sensors.

Computer induced limp mode eh? yeah it sure feels like that.
nothing electrical. don't throw any codes. my check engine light works. not burned out or anything.
I could understand if I wasn't getting enough air. I'd throw a code. but it's strange. no codes. it goes limp when I stomp it into second.
Hmm... there's gotta be something I can do.
yes I had plenty of gas. well.. then again... I had about 1/4 tank...... maybe that's why? my fuel pump wasn't getting any fuel?
I know how these cars don't like having low fuel....
Anyone else?

there we go, my bad

back on topic... 1/4 tank is more than enough
check your IAT sensor make sure its in the intake good.... sometimes it gets confused if it wobbles out of place and is dangling somewhere in the engine bay and will make the car stall out
rev limiter wouldn't make the car lose power, just a stupid sound as it protected itself from revving into oblivion
I say just open your hood and stare for like an hour I'm sure its something stupid and obvious.
what was the last thing you did to the car? how long has it been bogging out in 2nd gear?
last thing I did was installed that HO manifold.
Might be linked to that. I honestly don't know. I just can't figure out what's causing this. my IAT is stuffed firmly in my intake. so I'm sure it's not that.
damnit... I can't think of any possible reasons this could be happening.
maybe it's because I slam down the gas too fast as I throw it into second?

pulled the car into the garage and I gave it a thorough inspection.
this is what I found.
if I rev it hard. and I mean rev it and butterfly the gas. it will do exactly what it does when I slam it into second. Bog down.
I must have a bad sensor somewhere..... but which one....

when you stomp the gas it should equal crazy tire spin, not a bogging motor
check vacuum lines and stuff, make sure all the sensors are hooked up
Yea, there's no way thats a rev limiter since I believe the limiter doesn't kick in until 6100. Also, when you shift if the limiter does kill the line, all the power will come right back as soon as the trans hits second.
hmm I had a weird thought right now....
I swittched over to a rubber hose for intake purposes...
it's a little pinched in one spot I noticed...
is it entirely possible that it collapses when I hit the throttle?
