Question on which Hi-flow cat to order
Saturday, June 25, 2005 4:27 PM
Im going custom 2.25 full exhaust with a hi-flow magnaflow cat. What size should I get for my 03 ecotec?
Would the 13 inch do the job ? Im also going to have a resonator.
What should it have as far as 02 sensor holes? Just one hole for OBD2? Im not going to use a sim just replace and keep the stock sensor.

that's going to sound low-medium volume, low deep tone, non raspy, and baby a bumble bee or two when shifting at a high RPM, but other than that, the buzzing should be eliminated.

So you used this Glasspack as your resonator? How does it sound? I have a Pacesetter 4-1 to a High Flow Cat (94035) to tubing and a muffler. But it is way to loud sounds like a weedwhacker on crack. I was wanting to put in a resonator but they are $60+ Then I see this and I can get that Glasspack from Summit for $20. Let me know if it has a real deep tone to it or if it is loud and Briggs & Stratton like.

a glasspack is a resonator...

all a resonator is, is a smaller muffler..... all a glasspack is, is a resonator filled mainly with fiberglass hence the name glasspack

find the largest one you can and preferably without louvers in it... if you look in and it looks like a cheese grater.....pass.

if its just smooth with holes, get.

sounds identical to mine almost, all ordered up, hopefully get it on asap

Cat :
MAGNAFLOW HI FLOW CAT 94035

Muffler :
Dual Magnaflow Mufflers 14833, each has dual square tips for my type J rear.

Resonator :
289-24201
Magnum Glasspack Muffler
In/Out: 2-1/4''
Body Length: 24''

Then going with a ceramic coated pace setter header, I cant wait!

wont you throw a CEL code on the ecotec if you dont have an OBD compliant cat, with 2 fittings for the o2 sensor, b/c that's what the stock cat has

ODB compliant cat? never heard of that one.

anyways, you wont have a CEL if its installed right. some cats are directional and if put in the wrong way you will have a CEL

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!

yeah, flowmaster makes them, and i think a couple other companies, but the flowmasters start at 200 bucks, and thats alot for a cat..........i've talked with a few people and they've told me if you dont keep the stock cat with the eco, or get an OBDII compliant one, then you're going to throw a CEL

well, when i looked the cat he's getting is OBDII compliant but it's only got one sensor fitting, and i was under the impression that the ecotec had 2 fittings on the cat

I believe that its only 1 sensor on the cat to my knowledge, its sold as a OBDII compliant one,

shouldnt only be one sensor on the cat of a jbody. 94035 already covers the sensor and complaiancy.

pretty much most all that are made now frm big companies are obd complaint

Re: Question on which Hi-flow cat to order

I think its only one sensor, if its two all you have to do is drill a hole and order the bung to insert the other sensor (this is actually sold by magnaflow)

Everything is arriving in a day or so, and a guy in my club might help me get it installed, I have to get all the pipes custom made and welded. When Im finished I will post a video from different angles of the sound.
I ended up ordering the Dynomax from NAPA auto parts, 33 bucks, they ordered a 25 inch one, and had it in a day. So if you want one quick that may be an option for some people as NAPA is a dynomax dealer.

I ended up going with the 91035 cause the 94035s were backordered, either way, hopefully have it on in the next couple of weeks.

How much time should it take to install a header/bend pipe, and get it all hung/welded up, also its being split to duals. Just gettin an idea so they dont screw me on prices for labor

there are 2 sensors in the obdII system but one is pre-cat on the exhaust manifold and one is post cat...

watching this as i'm looking to upgrade my exhaust with a high flow as well (in addition to a header, new muffler, and new piping)
