Need advice on performance direction

Hi,

I have an 03 Cav and I'm just now getting to the performance aspect. I want a car that will eventually be around 250-300 hp. I do NOT want nitrous - I've heard about too many guys blowing up their engines, etc. I don't race, but I'd like the bragging rights and the power when I need it.

What I've done so far:

RK Sport spark boots
RK Sport Ecotec intake
Dual Magnaflow exhaust
Front strut brace (no hp but I figured I should start somewhere on the suspension)

Where should I go next? I'd like to do some 100-200 dollar mods here and there to slowly build the car to as close to 200 hp as I can, then add the GM Supercharger for the extra 70. Is this a good plan?

At what point should I upgrade my brakes and suspension?

Any help from the "gearheads" is greatly appreciated. I don't want to just buy stuff if I'm not really getting added performance from it. I am willing to be patient and do it right and in order. I need your expert guidance.

Thanks!

Steve

Your not going to see 250-300 with the GM supercharger..... Your gonna have to get a turbo if you want to ever reach those numbers. Read up some more because you are going to end up buying things that dont help you reach your goal like your intake.....

Ok starting off price order low to high:

B&M Shiftplus: If you dont have it already 35 bux or so... very noticable feel for autos.

Mounts: as you said before it seems you are looking this way

Pulley - Lightened or otherwise, I have been wanting to get 4 others to go in on this and get them from customcargrills.com I think is where it was prolly run about 130 total

Throttle Body ~ couple hundred for one from ebay, 62mm, no core charge

Cams ~ range in price, more difficult install than alot of things

******Extras******
Could look at SAFC-2 to do a little tuning especially with more aggressive cams people tend to run rich.

You said in another post the front end exhaust will be next year, I suggest pacesetter ceramic coated header 4:1 better high end gains, if you want low end get a 4:2:1, forget if its weapon r or rksport who make it

High Flow cat

Exhaust cutout

I know you said you dont want nitrous, but, if you look at some of the guys who have run it... there have been good results, with a few freak cases of things going wrong. Backfire is about the biggest problem of a good setup. To solve that when done spraying, run at WOT with the nitrous off for a fw seconds to flush the pipes out for sure.

The guy runnin 75 shot for 34 or so bottles... pretty impressive on just colder plugs.

Run a setup like colder plugs, rpm window switch, dual nitrous solenoids, (wot switch obviously) or tps signal switch, fuel pressure safety switch, can be expanded to safc-2/msd dis-2 ignition/etc and you are looking at a very well built system that should be very reliable.

Wont push it, but just my 2 cents worth.

As far as brakes go. There is a difference between needing and benefitting from them. If you are racing alot, be it at the track or street either way, it helps to have stopping power. Its not NEEDED, but very nice to have. A set of slotted rotors, new pads, possibly new ss lines. There isnt a set limit of when you need them, but id say anything past little bolt ons... shiftplus, mounts, tb, its about time to start looking, cams you can prolly get away with, any FI and you should have them for sure.

yea turbo is about the only way you will reach that power number, it can be done with a supercharger but you would have to run nitrous on top of it

OK, sounds like a good plan - thanks!

I'm going to print out this thread in a couple days and make a shopping list.

I'd like to get into that pulley "gp" I think - let me go check it out.
