so i love the sound of the SRT-4 mufflerless exhaust and i know i wont be hearing the turbo or the gate but does anyone have a mufflerless setup on their 2.4?
i think it would sound great but im also ready for some flames if need be if you dont like the idea
and i did search, i didnt come up with anything, but it was quick so if there was a post about this before please redirect me
thanks
to be honest...it will most likely sound like crap..never know till you try it though. Exhaust is all about personal taste when it comes to sound.
i dont know if it would sound great without a muffler on a N/A motor. i would just put a straight-through muffler on it and a 22 inch resonator. THEN it will sound awesome IMO.

I had a straightpipe for a while... pretty loud. Obnoxiously loud, actually. I think the only car louder than mine was Karo's (at the 04 Bash). I put a Magnaflow 24" resonator on it, and it was still painful at high rpms. I had a constant buzzing in my ear after driving for .. oh.. anything over an hour?

yeah come to think of it, im sure the SRT has a lot of sound deadening material on the underbelly, and of course i would put a couple of resonators or glass packs in, i honestly just like the sound of the 2.4 in the neon, but they are very different
Well Ive had no muffler on one of my car back in the day, It was cool at first then the tone got on my nerves. Better off spending some cash to get a good flow muffler.
Good Luck

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
i drove my cav with just a header to the exhaust shop not a good sound but keep in mind lots of the sound is killed by the turbo and the cat. on the srt so a free flowing muffler and a resonator is kind the equivalent on a j-body
wouldnt pass inspection here
I remember when my downpipe came loose from my header, that was the most fun ive ever had driving my car, my god it was loud, sounded like a mustang

thanks for all the input guys
and i didnt think of the turbo muffling the sound, but it makes sense
i just want a really low tone exhaust

That's the only thing the muffler is there for.
read it again, i didnt think about the TURBO muffling the sound, i know what a muffler does
I didn't read anything below the first thread in this forum... so I'll just toss in my input. It really depends on the motor. If you had a turbo, that would definitely mute your exhaust down a little bit. But even without a turbo, I'd run a good high flow cat and a long... LONG... LONG resonator. Which... on my truck I used to have, it didn't have a cat or a muffler. A resonator is the same thing as a glasspack muffler. They are just called resonators when used as a pre-muffler. And they are called glasspacks when used as the actual muffler. Same part.
